  • Type of Adventure: Cultural visit to Otavalo market combined with a relaxing lunch in an Hacienda nearby.
  • Physical rating: 2-5 Otavalo is situated at 2700m. The morning will be spent strolling around the local markets then we will take a short drive to an hacienda nearby where you will be served an exquiste lunch.  After lunch you will have the opportunity to practice some horse-riding taking in breathtaking views of the andes.
  • Adventure rating: 4-6 this is a nice day trip with lots of local color and culture.
  • Adventure Highlights: Otavalo Market, one of the biggest indigenous markets in Ecuador. Andean countryside.

  • Approximate itinerary - always flexible to suit your needs.
  • 08:30 - Leave Quito heading north on the famous Pan Americana
  • 09:30 - Arrive in Otavalo market with plenty of time to see the markets in full swing, hit the stalls for some serious shopping or sit back with a coffee taking in the buzz and colors of the local culture.
  • 13:00 - Lunch in The Boutique Hacienda Urcohuasi, 20 mins away from Otavalo
  • 14:30 - Optional horse ride in the afternoon or a relax by the fire. 
  • 16:30 - Return to Quito

Mode of Transport: We will be traveling in a fully expedition equipped 4×4, which is both safe and comfortable as it has legendary off road capabilities. On board we carry a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, maps & tools. The vehicle will be driven by a fully licensed truck/coach driver with many years of experience driving expeditions throughout Latin America.
