Power goes off for 4 hours at a time, to save power in Ecuador. Life is a little more difficult but not as bad as one might think, maybe this is a lesson for the future for all of us.
When the power goes off, it goes off everywhere within a designated area, no traffic lights etc. When the power comes back another area is cut off for another 4 hrs. and so on. Hard to get around but life goes on...
The reason for these cuts are due to a pro-longed lack of rain in Ecuador over the last few months, therefore not having enough water for the hydro-electric plants. Lessons to be learned for the future of Quito if we have severe weather changes in the future.
For the first time in ages we see stars in the sky right above the city of Quito in Eucador.

Well I thought I better just up date this page as we have know got Power back on full time in Quito as of 15 feb, but is was interesting to see how everyone copied . This is still a problem of Ecuador and I think Ecuador is not alone .
