Hot springs Ecuador

  • Adventure Highlights: One of the most scenic thermal baths in Ecuador with more than 3 dozen pools. Lush hill sides with views of volcan Antisana (5753m), optional spa treatments available.

     

Papallacta thermal springs are located 70km east of Quito, the springs are situated high in the rural Andes with amazing views of the snowcapped volcano Antisana. These springs are set in the lush Andean hillsides where you can see hummingbirds feeding on the trumpet flowers. The design of these springs is in keeping with surrounding area, allowing you to unwind. There are 3 dozen hot pools and a mountain cold natural stream to cool down in. There are also trekking trails from 45mins to 4hrs. Papallacta has the option of a variety of spa treatments to indulge in.

Approximate itinerary.

  • 08:30 - Leave Quito via the old town of Guapulo with its colonial white washed houses and 16th century church, time to stop for some amazing photos.

  • 10:00 - Leaving Quito behind we head into the valley,  then up into the eastern Andes where the the landscape turns into high Andean Paramo.

  • 11:00 - Time for some easy trekking on the market trails around Papallacta hot springs - Or head straight to the springs, you choose?

  • 12:30 - Lunch.

  • 13:30 - Time to relax in the magical hot springs of Papallacta or take the time to indulge in a variety of spa treatments.

  • 16:00 - Head back to Quito after a relaxing day in the andes.

 

Mode of Transport. This depends on the size of the group, on board we carry a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, maps, tools, GPS. The vehicle will be driven by fully trained and licensed driver.

 

What to bring?

  • Walking boots or strong trekking type shoes.

  • Waterproof jacket.

  • Sun glasses.

  • Sun cream.

  • Swimming costume.

  • Sense of adventure…!
